My heart aches for what is just and true
Not for what preserves the power and privilege of a select few.
The cries of the marginalized and disenfranchised
Are an indictment against the religious institutions we've organized.
It's not an issue between right or left, progressive or conservative, liberal or orthodox.
It's a question about whether we can embrace the Kingdom paradox.
The upside down, humble way of the King who washes feet
And says blessed are the meek.
The one who lays His life down for the weak and vulnerable.
The one whose face in some of his people is nearly indiscernible.
